O perfil oficial da franquia Ghost in the Shell revelou uma nova imagem promocional que mostra o que pode ser a primeira imagem do novo anime da franquia, que está sendo feito pelo estúdio Science SARU. A imagem vem de uma exibição de projetos da série, incluindo o novo anime.

O novo anime será situado em algum momento do fim do século 21 e mostrará um mundo onde a linha entre homem e máquina ficou indefinida. "Nesse cenário em plena transformação, a superagente ciborgue Major Motoko Kusanagi é encarregada de rastrear os terroristas e cibercriminosos mais inventivos e perigosos", diz a sinopse, que ainda cita hackers fantasmas como adversário da personagem.
O projeto é tocado em parceria com a Bandai Namco Filmsworks, a Kodansha e a Science SARU. The Ghost in the Shell está previsto para sair em algum momento de 2026.
