A HBO liderou com dez prêmios, dos quais cinco foram pela grande vencedora da noite, a minissérie John Adams. O programa sobre a vida do presidente dos Estados Unidos venceu nas categorias dramáticas de Melhor Atriz (Laura Linney), Melhor Ator (Paul Giamatti), Melhor Ator Coadjuvante (Tom Wilkinson), Melhor Minissérie e Melhor Roteiro (Kirk Ellis).
Outra grande vencedora da noite foi a série 30 Rock, nas categorias cômicas. Além de ter sido escolhida a Melhor Série de Humor, o programa teve Tina Fey como Melhor Atriz pelo segundo ano consecutivo e ela ganhou ainda como Melhor Roteirista. Alec Baldwin também foi lembrado e ficou com o prêmio de Melhor Ator.
