A Comissão dos

Prêmios Harvey

anunciou, semana passada, os candidatos à premiação referente ao ano de

2001

. A relação de indicados baseia-se nos quadrinhos lançados ao longo do ano passado e foi obtida por meio de cédulas enviadas a cerca de 2000 roteiristas, desenhistas, editores e outros profissionais da indústria americana de quadrinhos. Os vencedores do Harvey serão selecionados pela comunidade quadrinhística dos Estados Unidos por meio de uma cédula final.

Os ganhadores deste ano serão homenageados durante o 15º Banquete Anual dos Prêmios Harvey a se realizar às 20 horas do dia 26 de abril na Pittsburgh Comicon. Evan Dorkin, o criador de Milk & Cheese, Eltingville and Dork! será o mestre de cerimônias pelo terceiro ano consecutivo. Tony Millionaire, criador de Maakies e Sock Monkey, fará o discurso de abertura. Tanto Dorkin quanto Millionaire foram premiados em anos anteriores.

Homenagem a Harvey Kurtzman, esta premiação é uma das mais antigas e respeitadas da HQ americana. Prestigia nomes e realizações em 24 categorias, que vão desde Melhor ilustrador até o Hall da Fama Jack Kirby. Tendo início em 1988 durante a Chicago Comic-Con, é um dos eventos da The Pittsburgh Comicon desde 2000. Sua comissão organizadora compôe-se de Dave Bissel, Anthony Bozzi, Denis Kitchen (presidente), Nellie Kurtzman, Paul McSpadden (adminstrador), Jim Titus e Scott Todd.
